Less is More Challenge!

Good morning!!  I have some fun cards for you today!  Why a few?  Well, I wanted to play along with the Less is More Challenge--to make a one layer card with just one word.  Sounds easy enough!  Well, there were several techniques I thought would work well with this challenge, so.............

My first try was a stencil attempt. First, I made my own stencil using a scalloped square and a window sheet.  I laid that one down, then put the Polka Dot stencil down over that.  It looked really cute, but the scallops weren’t very defined, so I added the ink around the polka dots using a blending brush.  I'll try this again, but maybe with just a straight square, and I'll leave the space on the outside white.

My second try was using the Faux Watercolor technique.  I pulled out a stem from the Forever Fern Stamp Set.  Using my Stamparatus, I first added some Soft Succulent ink to the stamp, spritzed with water and stamped.  I cleaned the stamp, then added some Calypso Coral ink, just around the edges of some of the leaves--again, spritzed and stamped.

As you can see, I lost a lot of the definition in the leaves.  I really think my biggest mistake was not using watercolor paper.  I liked the feel of the card and layout, but wasn't happy with the image.

So, my third and final attempt!  I used a larger stem for this one, and used the same process, but this time on watercolor paper.  WOW!!  I really love it!!

The Hello was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink.

I really am enjoying trying out new techniques and layouts!  I still love my designer paper, but I'm going more and more towards the simple layouts--they're so elegant!

Balloons!!

Good morning!!  I have a new card for you this morning that features the stamp set, Soar, along with the Hot Air Balloon Slimline Die from Dare 2B Artzy!   I love hot air balloons, and this die was perfect!!  For the background, I used the "smoosh" technique using window sheets, Stampin' Blends and isopropyl alcohol!

Here's a close up:

I did the same background for my sentiment panel, and layered it on Basic Black cardstock so that it "popped":

Pretty, huh?!!

One card, Two Challenges!!

Good morning!!  This card was made for a challenge that I just found--the TIME OUT Challenge and a "old" favorite, the TGIF Challenge!   The themes are "Birthday" and "Blending Brushes".  Here's my card:

Tammy

Yes, it's stenciling again!!  Love this technique!  For this card, I used the Butterflies & Flowers Layering Decorative Masks and Blending Brushes.  Colors used are Night of Navy and Balmy Blue--I like the contrast!  And, on the Balmy Blue cardstock notice the extra stenciling!  Same set, but a different pattern!  I fussy cut the florals out and popped them up with dimensionals.

Hope you like it!!

Supply List:

Snowflakes!

Good morning!!  Today's card was made for two different challenges--both clean and simple challenges.  I once again used stencils--this one is no longer available, but it fit the theme, so I used it!

The theme for Addicted to CAS was "Snowflake", and the sketch I used is from the CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge.

Here's my card:

CAS458

I stenciled the snowflakes with Night of Navy ink--I did a 3 1/2" square, then cut it into fourths.  I layered a die cut snowflake (from vellum), then the embossed sentiment.  Simple!

More Stenciling.........

Good morning!!  I have another stenciled card for you today!!  This time, the Butterflies & Flowers Decorative Masks are the stars!  I started with the solid butterfly, and applied Highland Heather ink with my blending brush.  Then, without removing the butterfly mask, I laid the flowers over the top--and applied Gorgeou Grape ink with the blending brush!  You get this fun floral butterfly:

TMS645

The layout inspiration is from this week's Tuesday Morning Sketch #645.  I did flip it onto the side, as the butterfly was too wide for a vertical card.  I also "embossed" using the same floral stencil for the side panel.

What do you think?  What other stencils could be used together?  Let me know your ideas!!  I'd love to try them!

Stencils for GDP #331

Hi!!  The theme for the Global Design Project this week is Dots & Circles!  I have been obsessed with my stencils this weekend!  You should see my desk--bits and pieces EVERYwhere!!  Such a mess--but a very happy mess!!

Anyway, here's a piece I had stenciled with polka dots--I cut it into strips, then added a circle sentiment:

GDP331

For the circles stamped on the sentiment panel--I inked up the edges of the circles in the Watercolor Shapes Stamp Set.  Added also were the circle embellishments from Clear & Silver Epoxy Essentials.

I'm very happy with how this one turned out!

Shaker Card!

Good morning!!  What a great weekend so far!  So much time spent in my craft room--trying new techniques and card ideas!  I participated in a Card Maker Success Summit--it was the last four days, and there were sooooo many great ideas!  One of the classes was on shaker cards, so I pulled out my stuff, and this is what I made using the Stitched Triangles dies:

Sweet Ice Cream for FMS523

Good afternoon!!  I am enjoying a short "vacation" from work, and spending some time in my stamp room!  I have been watching videos, attending a Card Summit, and just enjoying creating!  I decided to play along with some challenges, and chose one that I haven't participated in awhile:  Freshly Made Sketches.  I love this site, and save each and every sketch to my pinterest board!  When I saw this week's sketch, I saw scoops of ice cream!! (a moment of brilliance, if I do say so myself! haha!!)

Feb sas 5

Just the cardstock was plain, so I added Wink of Stella--it doesn't photograph well, but it is sparkly in person!  ps.  I really miss Dazzling Diamonds glitter!!
Feb sas 5

Bright colors are my favorite, so I pulled out the Sale-a-bration dsp, Sunshine & Rainbows!  Love it!!

The "scoops" are Magenta Madness, Mango Melody and Granny Apple Green--pulled right from the designer paper.  Card base is Misty Moonlight--it's a nice calm backdrop for all the bright colors!

Off the Edge Die Cutting!

Hi!!  The "As You See It" current challenge is to use a Favorite Technique!  Well, my current favorite is Off the Edge Die Cutting!!   I just learned this, and I have soooo many ideas swimming in my head!  Here's the first one I made!  I used the Blessings of Home Bundle, and colored with Stampin' Blends--love the bright colors!!

Ccmar1

Can you see how the dies was cut from one side of the cardfront?
Ccmar1

Here it is all the way open:

Because I didn't want you to see the bleed through from the blends, I cut out one die to color, then cut the same die from the card front, and layered them!

The designer paper on the right side is from the Pattern Party DSP pack!  I think the black really makes the bright flowers pop!
